APRIL: lET'S DANCE!
Did you know that dancing has many health benefits? Studies have proven that dancing increases neural activity and can heal the brain as it ages. Imagine exercising while enjoying yourself!
During our April activity evening, Dora & Garth Hamilton were kind enough to share their dancing expertises with us. What an evening of heart warming fun we had! Dora & Garth have been dance instructors for more than 20 years. On this evening, they taught us the difference between being the leader and the follower in a dance. As well, they offered modifications for people challenged by their physical abilities. It all started with the macarena to get our blood flowing and releasing the blockages of feeling silly and self-conscious. It worked! Then we were led into a variety of dances such as ballroom dancing, cha-cha, ramba, tango, jive, and more. Dora & Garth also danced for us, making it look so graceful and effortless. Dora & Garth were thrilled to hear feedback from the members such as: « You have awakened something in me I thought was gone. » and « I came to have questions answered and I got them. », « That was so enjoyable. Thank you!. » And much more. We would like to thank Dora & Garth for reigniting in us, the fire of joy and love! |
